"In my artwork I seek to catch the fragile passing moments whether it’s a certain light that is reflected on a surface, a brief encounter of colors in the nature or the lightness of a movement.
Replicating the reality per se is not interesting for me, it’s rather picking up the essential elements and giving the viewer the freedom for their own associations and imagination."
Kia Taegen was born in 1990 in Espoo. She studied at the Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture from where she graduated in 2016 (Architect M. Sc). Since 2008 Kia has been exhibiting her work mainly in the capital region of Finland, but also in London, Stockholm and Cologne.
Her work has been purchased in public and private collections e.g. in Finland, UK, USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Belgium and Taiwan. In 2015 Kia was selected Art Cantre Salmela’s Young Artist of the year and in 2020 she won the 2nd prize in Art Centre Salmela’s Visual art competition for young artists.
